Fraternal Greetings,
A few random notes and gentle reminders for the benefit of all members:
- The Lodge Webmaster is still looking for volunteers and contributors to help add content to the Lodge website. Any stories or anecdotes about Glebe Lodge No. 181 and Arlington Centennial Lodge No. 81 would be most welcome. We would love to feature a history of both Lodges, as well as an account of how the Arlington Masonic Temple and Arlington Centennial – Glebe Lodge No. 81 came to be. If you have a funny tale, interesting tidbit or inspiring experience in Masonry to share; your brethren might enjoy reading it at www.ACGL81.com. Submissions need not be long or grandiose; any contributions are greatly encouraged!
- As you can see on the lodge calendar, there is a Masonic activity every Monday night this month at Arlington Masonic Temple. Our Catechism and Lodge Instruction School continues in earnest, but we will also hold a Fellowcraft degree on Monday, May 17th as well as our regular Stated Meeting on Monday, May 24th. Based on feedback from the brethren, I am trying to confine our schedule to Mondays primarily with Thursdays available as a backup if necessary. If you are free on Monday evenings, please stop by the Lodge and see what’s happening.
- The next 54th District Blood Drive will be held on Saturday, June 26th at Arlington Masonic Temple. Please start spreading the word among your neighbors and co-workers. If you can no longer give blood, please bring a friend or two who can! Breakfast is always free and plentiful and the need for useable blood is always great. Our blood drives constitute a key pillar in our obligation of service to others, as well as a highly visible example of our fraternity’s good works in the community. I implore you to support and promote this effort is any way you can.
- It’s not too early to mention the Reid James Simmons Academy of Masonic Leadership. The school is open to all Master Masons who would like to improve their knowledge of ritual and increase their understanding of the craft. This intense training session will be held August 1st through 4th at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, Virginia. Please contact me or visit www.grandlodgeofvirginia.org for schedule, class offerings and reservation information.
- The 2010 edition of the 54th Masonic District Directory is now available in both electronic and print formats. Please let me know if you would like a copy.
